MIDHAS Working Group: Healthy Ageing

Understanding cellular and molecular processes of aging

Focusing on a healthy lifespan

With people living longer than ever before, maintaining health into old age has become a major challenge. Age-related diseases are on the rise worldwide, placing increasing demands on healthcare systems. Aging is closely linked to metabolic changes that can promote chronic inflammation and cellular dysfunction. Understanding these mechanisms is crucial for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies.

In January 2026, the MIDHAS research cluster launched the interdisciplinary Working Group “Healthy Aging”. The group aims to investigate the cellular and molecular processes of aging across different organs, providing a scientific foundation for lifestyle and intervention strategies that support a long and healthy lifespan. Updates on ongoing projects and new initiatives will be shared regularly, as we work together to uncover innovative approaches to healthy aging.
